About me and how I work

I qualified as a Clinical Psychologist in 1988 and worked for over 30 years in various adult mental health settings in the NHS. I have Chartered Psychologist status and am a member of the British Psychological Society, the Division of Clinical Psychology, am regulated by the Health and Care Professions Council and hold a DBS certificate.

The main therapies I offer are Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Mindfulness. These are all recommended by the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE).

In my private practice I see adult clients either in a consulting room in Radlett, Hertfordshire or on video platforms such as Zoom.  I offer a free initial 10 minute no obligation telephone conversation. The next step if you want to proceed is a 50 minute assessment to gain an understanding of the issues with which you want help. This will allow me to determine whether I can help and what therapy you may require. It also allows you to decide if you feel comfortable working with me. If I do not think that my service is right for you I will suggest alternatives. Subsequent appointments are normally weekly for 50 minutes. Therapy is usually for a number of weeks or months. Sessions may be spaced further apart after a while.
